Upcoming Event Information

Dates/Times: Thursday, October 23rd from 1pm-4:15pm and Friday, October 24th from 9am-12:15pm

Topic: When Dying is Prolonged: Just as quick and unexpected deaths create complication in the bereavement process for those who are left, so does lengthy dying processes. In this workshop, we focus on issues related to anticipatory grief and the uncertainty of the future. We talk about patient “hope” and how that differs from “denial.”

Through this workshop, we will discuss how to communicate with and involve family members in the dying person’s care and how to take care of oneself while providing care in circumstances of long-term care. In addition, we give attention here to the phenomenon of “losing a little each day,” experienced among family members and caregivers to patient with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Both sessions are geared toward clergy & toward hospice/social workers/hospital workers. Refreshments will be served at both sessions.
