Tara Jennifer DeWitt

September 20, 1977 — April 19, 2022

White Plains

Tara Jennifer DeWitt, loving wife and mother of two young daughters, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 19, 2022 at the age of 44.

Tara was born on September 20, 1977 in Binghamton, New York to Sherri and Peter DeWitt. She grew up in Winter Park, Florida and graduated from Smith College in 1999 and then moved to Brooklyn. In 2010, she married Luci Rosalia. Together, they had two beautiful daughters, Amelia (age 8) and Sierra (age 6). Tara was a dedicated mother and wife - always insightful, creative and kind.

Tara earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Yeshiva University in 2007. She spent her early career treating veterans while on staff at the Brooklyn VA. She has also treated patients in her private practice where her clients came to value her compassionate, warm and loving presence. She eventually opened West Village Therapy as therapist and owner. She was a national trainer in motivational interviewing and specialized in facilitating relationship communication and developing healthy, sustainable relationship patterns in romantic relationships and business partnerships and teams.

Tara's final hours were spent doing something she loved: long-distance running in Rockefeller State Park. From running track on her college team to cycling from New York to Boston on the AIDS ride to countless races to several triathlons, Tara was an avid athlete throughout her life. In late 2021, she competed in the 70.3 Toughman Half Ironman and placed first in her age group.

All her life, Tara had a zealous love of travel and new adventures. As a child, she completed the seven peaks in the Adirondacks with her family and was a member of the Adirondack 46ers. She hiked the highest peak, Mt. Marcy, at age 10. As a young adult, she delved into environmental studies in Sydney, Australia. Her deep appreciation of the outdoors inspired many family adventures and she tried to instill that passion in her children.

She is survived by Luciana Rosalia (wife), Amelia DeWitt Rosalia (8-year-old daughter), Sierra DeWitt Rosalia (6-year-old daughter), Sherri DeWitt (Mother), Peter DeWitt (Father), Moses DeWitt (brother) Melissa DeWitt (Sister-in-law), Carter DeWitt (Nephew), Pamela Kandel (Aunt), Cindy Schumaker (Aunts partner), Christine Rosalia (sister-in-law), Dyanne Williamson (sister-in-law), Michael Williamson (brother-in-law), Matthew Koithan (Nephew), John Koithan (Nephew), Carmen DiBartolomeo (sister-in-law), Jeffery DiBartolomeo (brother-in-law), Jamie DiBartolomeo (Niece), Jessica DiBartolomeo (Niece), Carmen Pugliese (Mother-in-law), Bob Pugliese (father-in-law) and John Rosalia (father-in-law).
