Saeed Oraee

September 17, 1962 — March 10, 2023

Scarsdale, NY

Our beloved Saeed Oraee, MD, of Scarsdale, NY, passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2023 at the age of 61 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on February 28, 1962 in Mashhad, Iran to Hossein Oraee-Mirzamani and Roghiyeh Niknejad. He was a loving father, husband, brother and uncle, a loyal and generous friend, and a dedicated physician.

He received his early education in both England and Scotland, after which he ventured to California and obtained a Bachelor of Health Sciences from California State University, Northridge. He received his Medical Degree from Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago in the Dominican Republic in 1987, where he met the love of his life, Parisa. He completed an Anesthesia Residency and Pain Management Fellowship from Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, after which he began his career practicing Anesthesia at BronxCare Health Systems in 1997, ultimately serving as the Chief of Obstetric Anesthesiology. He spent 25 years at BronxCare, building an unparalleled reputation as a beloved and trusted physician and mentor to many at BronxCare for the rest of his prosperous career.

Saeed, a man of integrity, was an anchor for the family as a loving father to his two children Ardalan and Sara, and a caring husband of 35 years to his wife, Dr. Parisa Tafreshi-Oraee. He was predeceased by his mother Roghiyeh and is survived by his wife, two children, father Hossein Oraee, sisters Maryam and Effat Oraee, brother Samad Oraee, his many loving nephews and nieces with whom he loved to exchange both advice and banter with, and lastly his rambunctious lapcat Pishi.

Saeed's passion for life was evident as he spent traveling the world during his time off from his busy career, ultimately traveling to over 60 countries with his wife, children, and dear friends. He spent many vacations down in South Beach, Miami, his favorite destination for a getaway with his family. During the summertime, Saeed would often host pool parties, grilling on the barbeque and making sure everyone was having a good time. His love for food and cooking never went unnoticed, with a pile of well-used cookbooks open in the kitchen at any given time. On the weekends he would be found starting the morning blasting Persian music to wake up his children and would end his evenings watching The Godfather with a whiskey in hand. He was incredibly generous and took great pride in creating the most wonderful memories and experiences for his family and friends. Saeed devoted his life to supporting those around him, and would walk to the ends of the Earth for anyone who needed guidance. He was kind, compassionate, stubborn, and dignified, and was loved by many. He fought a valiant battle against cancer and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Above all, Saeed cherished being there for his "Ma", "Pessy", and "Chibi" and was a
"Godfather" to all those around him.
