Passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2022, Ramon Maseda, at the age of 82 years, of Elmsford, NY, beloved husband of Montserrat. Ramon was born in Havana, Cuba, on May 30th, 1940, along with his twin brother, the late Miguel Angel Maseda. Born into an academic family, Ramon followed his parents' path to work at the University of Havana, becoming a Biochemist and instructor alongside his beloved brother. Ramon fled Cuba with his family and emigrated to the United States in 1963. Arriving in New York, Ramon continued his work in Biochemistry at Columbia University, co-authoring original research on Vitamin B7 along with Dr. Max Eisenberg before switching careers into the emerging computer science sector of the 1970s. Ramon worked for several decades as a mainframe computer specialist, finishing his career as a Director of Information Technology for the New York Power Authority. Ramon retired in 2011. Ramon was an avid sports enthusiast in his younger years, enjoying scuba diving, softball, racquetball, and bowling with his friends and colleagues. Ramon was also an avid reader and music enthusiast, collecting an extensive library of books and classical music. In his later years, he also enjoyed helping his local parish translate sermons into Spanish for the parishioners and cooking for his loved ones. Ramon also enjoyed many culinary excursions with his friends and family. Besides his loving and devoted wife Montserrat of fifty-six years, Ramon is survived by his son Raymond of Hopewell Junction, NY, his grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Christopher, and Danielle, and his extended family. We invite family and friends to pay their respects between 4 P.M. and 8 P.M. on July 5th, 2022, at Ballard-Duran Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, NY 10601. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on July 6th, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 39 East Main Street, Elmsford, NY, 10523, with Father Bob Norris, the celebrant. Flowers are gratefully declined. Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to plant a tree in Ramon's memory at A Living Tribute. https://www.alivingtribute.org
