Owen James Rader

Owen J. Rader passed away on September 19, 2021 at his home in Cornwall, NY. He was 89.  Born in ‘31 in Brooklyn to George and Edna Rader, he grew up near Ebbets Field with his older sister Abby.  Owen graduated from Syracuse and then from St. John’s Law School.  He worked as an attorney at the U.S. Court of International Trade. After completing an MSW from Columbia, he became a psychotherapist which would become his true calling. Through private practice and his work at the Rockland County Family Center, he helped countless troubled teens and families.  He also served in the U.S.Army and was a proud veteran.

In retirement, he explored new horizons - making numerous new friends in the Hudson Valley area and performing with the Hotsie Totsies, a senior musical group that performed at local nursing homes and churches.

A friend to all, and comfortable in his own skin, and adored by so many, he leaves this world as a happy man.  Grateful for the life he lived.

He is survived by his two sons, Adam and Dean, two daughter-in-laws Margaret Devine and Erica Yahr, his ex-wife and lifelong friend Marilyn Rader, his grandchildren Wyatt, Bryce, Brooke and Hannah, and many nieces and nephews.
