Nada Zupanski

Nada Zupanski passed away peacefully in her home in White Plains, New York on October 4, 2021. She will finally be joining her beloved husband Stan who passed away September 30, 2005. Nada was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  She leaves behind her loving daughters Sandra Zupanski and Gordana Zupanski-Jenik, and her grandchildren Aylee and Brandon Nielsen.

Nada had a remarkable life. She was born August 16, 1933 in Idvor, Yugoslavia to Ljubomir Sedlar and Aleksandra Erdeljan. She was the first woman in her village to get a degree from the University of Belgrade and became an elementary school teacher. She married Stan Zupanski and began her journey through the world. She lived in Frankfurt, Germany and Toronto, Canada before settling in the United States in White Plains, New York. It is there, where Stan and Nada raised their daughters, made their home and created a beautiful life together. Nada was ambitious and hardworking, in 1975 she went on to earn a Master of Science in Dietetics from New York University. She lived a long and successful life. She will be missed by all who knew her. As long as we speak her name in loving memory she will live forever.

We will be celebrating Nada’s life and legacy on October 23, 2021.  The funeral ceremony will begin at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home at 11:00am followed by a procession to the Amawalk Hill Cemetery at 12:00pm where we will lay our beloved Nada to rest. We would love for our family and friends to join us for a memorial luncheon at the Barnwood Grill at 2:00pm. Nada had an extraordinary life and we would like to share memories and good times in celebration of her life. On that note, we encourage everyone to wear white or light colors in Nada’s honor. She never liked the color black or wore any black clothing, she only wore white or light, bright colors and we know she would have loved for us to celebrate her life in this way.
