Margarita Bertot

May 25, 1946 — September 25, 2021

White Plains

Margarita Eugenia Bertot took her last breath on Saturday, September 25th surrounded by her loved ones at The Grove Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Valhalla, New York.

Margarita was born in 1946 in Patzun, a small village in Guatemala. She lived in White Plains, New York. She was the youngest daughter of Jose Maria Juarez and Maria de la Luz Juarez Mendez.

Margarita was preceded in death by her first husband Mario Luis Minera Moreira, her sisters Amparo, Sara, Marta, Isabel, Melina, and her brothers Angel and Arturo. She is survived by her husband Orlando Bertot, her daughter Claudia Christina (Domenico) Soddano, her grandchildren Nicholas and Olivia Melina Soddano, her sisters Clara Luz, Ana Maria, and her brother Ramiro.

She became a businesswoman upon her first husband's death in Guatemala taking over the family wholesale grocery business "Deposito Minera". She then came to live in the United States in 1987. She was a devoted wife, grandmother, a coffee lover and a great cook. Always welcoming and sharing a home cooked meal. She always had a kind word and was a friend to all. Despite her challenging medical conditions, she was a light to many, a compassionate listener, always looking at life in gratitude.

We want to thank all of the health care workers who took care of Margarita for many years, providing ultimate care until her last breath.

Following the memorial services Margarita will be laid to rest at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY 10532. There will be a repast at 4 Sciortino Place, White Plains, NY 10607.
