Lotus Jones

Lotus Marie Jones, the eldest of three siblings of the late Albert Heard and Mildred V. Williams Heard was born on May 1, 1948 in New York City.  She departed this life on July 9, 2021 at Long Island Jewish Center.

She received her education at Public School 191, Junior High School 44 and High School of Music & Art in New York.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Pace University in New York City and a Master’s Degree in Developmental Psychology from City University of New York.  She met her lifelong mate, Joseph Jones and entered into marriage on June 5, 1985.

Lotus worked at Rutgers University in New Jersey for many years and became the Assistant Director at Academic Development Office at Downstate Medical Center until retirement.

She was a lifelong educator, an accomplished violinist and classical guitarist.  Lotus was a culinarian, a naturalist and lover of animals.  She leaves to cherish many memories her loving husband, Joseph Jones, Queens, New York, Sister, Rosalee Heard, Elmsford, New York, Brother, Albert (Barbara) Heard, Mohegan Lake, New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and faithful friends.
