Lois Lindberg

April 4, 1926 — January 14, 2023

Briarcliff Manor, NY

Lois Pascoe Lindberg passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chicago, IL on April 4th, 1926, the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Charlton). She graduated from Morgan Park High School then went on to study at Northwestern University. It was there when she met her first husband, Robert William Lindberg. After graduating with a B.S in Psychology, Lois and Robert would soon marry and move to NYC. Five children and three different cities later, they finally settled down in White Plains, New York in 1965.

Lois was proud of and cherished her family. As the years passed, she was thrilled when the family grew to include four daughters-in-law, a son-inlaw, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Shortly after Robert's passing in 2001, she said goodbye to the home they created and moved into Westchester Meadows in Valhalla, NY. On a Northwestern alumni trip to Normandy, France, she met fellow Northwestern alumni Carl Winterrose of Joliet, IL and later married in 2004. Together, Lois and Carl curated a new life at the Meadows, where they enjoyed making new friends, taking day trips, serving on various committees and attending parties.

She loved to sing, especially as a long-time member of the choir at the White Plains Presbyterian Church and Westchester Choral Society. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bridge, serving as President of Tri Delta sorority alumnae chapter, traveling, playing tennis, crossword puzzles, volunteering, and baking. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She filled her families' life with delicious treats, stories, great music, never ending optimism and support. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from our mother and grandmother. Her smile was infectious, her personality bubbly, and she loved introducing herself to others, especially reaching out to those in need of a new friend. It is well known that Lois loved a good conversation with anyone and everyone, routinely stopping to chat with a friend or a stranger on her way to an event or even to pick up her mail. Always inquisitive, she cared about the lives of everyone she knew or met.

She will be missed by those who were lucky to have known her. She was a glowing light at the center of our family, and we are grateful to have known her love. She is survived by her children Curt (Claire), William (Judy), Robert (Pamela), Nancy (Timothy) and Tom (Susan); grandchildren Kristen, Colin, Sarah, Laura, Kate, Emily, Karl, Kelly and Megan; and great grandchildren Maddie, Sam, Koji, Blake, Hunter, Aidan, Caitlin, Allison, June, Willa, Nicolette and Alessia. She is predeceased by her first husband Robert, grandson Mark, and granddaughter Nicole.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Fieldstone for the excellent care she received there in her final years. A memorial service will be planned for later this spring. In her memory and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering in honor of her granddaughter Nicole. https://giving.mskcc.org
