Joseph Philip Moran

January 1, 1957 — April 10, 2022

Elmsford

Joseph Philip Moran was born on January 1, 1957 and departed on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at home, surrounded by his family, after a long fight with colon cancer.

Joseph was born to Philip & Julia and grew up in Elmsford, NY. He was very studious and loved to play basketball, baseball and football. After graduating from Alexander Hamilton High School, he began working at the United States Postal Service, while also continuing his education at Westchester Community College. He was a dedicated worker during his 47 years up until his recent retirement.

In 1982, Joe met Marie Maud while she was caring for his grandmother and they soon wed and had two children, Sapphire & Shane. He was a loving husband and amazing father.

Joe came from a very large Italian and Irish family and was predeceased by his mother and father, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his loving wife, who never left his side; his two children, Sapphire (Robert) DiCanio, and Shane Moran; his sisters Tery Moran-Lever (late Everett), Angela (Thomas) Connolly, and Lauren (Timothy) Petteys; many nieces, his nephew and his many in-laws.

Joe was an adventurous, spontaneous, free spirit with a wonderful sense of humor. He was generous with his love and time and no distance was ever too far, he would always find a way to be there. He was an avid NY Yankees, Giants, Nets, and Islanders fan and would never miss a ticker tape parade. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of getting to know him.

Service will be held at Ballard-Durand Funeral & Cremation Services at 72 East Main Street, in Elmsford NY on Tuesday, April 12 from 4:00 to 8:00 in the evening. The funeral will take place on Wednesday, April 13 at 11:00 in the morning at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel at 59 East Main Street in Elmsford, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, an organization that exhibits leadership in the prevention, treatment, and cure of cancer.
