Iris Lane Struber

May 28, 1939 — August 9, 2022

Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Iris Lane Struber (née Lerner) , a kind and creative soul, died on August 9, 2022 at the age of 83 in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Iris is survived by her loving husband of 35 years Victor Struber, her daughter Tracey Lane Novick, her son-in-law Louis Novick, and her grandchildren Harrison and Emily Novick. She is predeceased by her beloved siblings Julius Lerner, Roslyn Cowle, and Raymond Lerner. Iris was born in White Plains on May 28, 1939 to Sonia and Max Lerner, a founding member of the Hebrew Institute in White Plains. She graduated from NYU and began an illustrious career at Bloomingdale's where she broke barriers as a woman in the industry. In May, 1966, she married Paul Lane, a widower with 2 young sons, Curtis and Jeffrey. On October 4, 1968 she welcomed her beautiful daughter, who was the source of tremendous pride and the first girl born to a family with 8 male cousins whom she adored. Iris was a devoted mother and a creative force. A gifted artist, she started teaching pottery classes out of her basement in Lake Success, NY. She began collecting antiques which took her on annual trips with her young daughter around the globe. Iris built and later sold an incredible enamel compact collection to Neiman Marcus, and soon after created her namesake jewelry collection, "One of a Kind" by Iris Lane, which was sold at Bloomingdale's, Saks Fifth Avenue as well as other high-end retailers. She sold her business when her first grandchild was born to become a full time grandmother. Her creative propensity propelled her to start a handbag company named after her cherished grandson, aptly named "Harrison Scott by Iris Lane". She loved to participate in trade shows around the US and sold the collection to stores and galleries alike. Iris loved to explore the world and prided herself on traveling with her daughter on more than 20 trips that took them around the globe. An exuberant Anglophile, Iris enjoyed many trips with Vic around England. She was also a deeply spiritual woman and loved to meditate. She will be profoundly missed by her friends, family, and all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made in Iris's name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org .
