White Plains

Hope Helene Schweizer of New City, NY passed away peacefully on December 1st at the age of 84 at Nyack Hospital.

Hope was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn NY on October 19, 1937 to Herbert and Vera Miller. She resided in Brooklyn NY until the age of 10 before moving to Norwood, NJ. Hope attended Tenafly High School and the summer after graduating she met her future husband Joseph Schweizer of Pearl River, NY.  Hope and Joseph were married in 1960 and have resided in New City ever since.

Hope began her professional career as an executive secretary at Lederle Laborotories in Pearl River, NY. After remaining at home for many years to raise her 3 children, Hope rejoined the work force in 1982, working as a librarian at Link Elementary School in New City. She moved on from there to become the assistant to the superintendent of the Nyack School district from where she eventually retired.

Hope was a lifelong member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River, NY. She especially enjoyed traveling, having visited much of Europe, and spending long summer weekends at their home at the Jersey shore. She was a talented painter, having many of her watercolors displayed in local shows. Hopes greatest joy however, came from spending time with her family and countless friends. As a grandmother, her blue eyes especially lit up any time she was with her 3 granddaughters.

Hope is survived by her adoring husband Joseph of New City; her brother Robert Miller of Fort Myers, FL; her son Christopher, of Queens, NY; her son Blair and his wife Susan of Bardonia, NY and her three granddaughters, Taylor, Carly and Eve Schweizer. She is predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Vera Miller and her eldest son, Todd Schweizer.
