September 26, 1926 ~ August 29, 2023 (age 96) 96 Years Old
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elizabeth "Betty" Golia, who gracefully departed this world on August 29, 2023 at the age of 96 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Peter, and her dear siblings, John, Frank, Marie and Ida.
Born on September 26, 1926 in Ossining, NY, Elizabeth was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the enduring power of family, love, and resilience. After graduating Evander Childs HS, Bronx, NY, she entered The Cadet Nurse Corps in 1943 and began her journey as a registered nurse that she continued until retiring as an operating room nurse from White Plains Hospital at the age of 84. Throughout her long career, she had the friendship and respect of many doctors, colleagues and staff and was honored for her service several times.
A devoted mother, she is survived by her children, Regina, Peter and wife Deborah, Annette and husband Martin, and Jean and husband Jeff. Her home was always a place of warmth and comfort, filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking and the sound of laughter. Her children have inherited her strength and kindness, values she instilled in them through her actions and words.
There will be a service for Betty on September 11, 2023 at the Ballard Durand Funeral Home, White Plains NY.
Though we say our final goodbyes, we take solace in knowing that Elizabeth has found peace and has been reunited with those she loved. Her memory will live on in our hearts, and her love will continue to guide us through life's journey.
