Dr. Elvis Alfonso, of Scarsdale New York, passed away January 6, 2022 as a result of a cardiac arrest. His wife and family were by his side throughout his month long battle. He was born to Francisca and Manuel Alfonso of the Dominican Republic on July 6, 1962. Elvis received his medical degree from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo.
He was currently a practicing physician in Queens, New York, serving the Hispanic community as an OB/GYN. His greatest aspiration was to achieve the American dream; to become a doctor, help people, and have a wonderful life. He was a member of ACOG, practiced urology in Mexico City and practiced Gynecology/Obstetrics in both New York and Florida. Elvis taught high school math before becoming a doctor, and felt like he impacted many lives through this knowledge and care. He was dedicated to his patients and treated them like family. He also attended regular reunions with his Medical School cohorts and has remained close friends with them for many years.
Elvis is survived by his father Manuel Alfonso; his wife, Erica OBryan; his brother Carlos Alfonso and his sisters Mirna Arce and Solange Alfonso; his children, Elvis Jr Alfonso, and Isabella Alfonso. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, His tio Sedrito, and a host of loving friends and colleagues.
Elvis loved to live life. He sang, he danced, he planted, traveled to his home the Dominican. He loved his children, they will always mean the world to him. He found his soulmate in Erica, who stood by his side as a partner and equal. Everyone who knew him loved him because of his warm laugh and generous spirit. He gave sage advice, wonderful hugs, and was welcoming to all.
Funeral arrangements are being held by Ballard Durand Funeral Home at 2 Maple Avenue, WhitePlains, NY on Sunday, January 9, 2022 from 2-9 pm. The funeral Mass and burial will be held on Monday January 10, 2022 at 11:15 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 8 Carman Road, Scarsdale, NY 10583
