Carmella (Audia) Tartaglia

December 17, 1934 — July 26, 2021

White Plains

Carmella “Connie” (Audia) Tartaglia, passed away peacefully “with her boys” by her side on July 26, 2021 at the age of 86. Connie was born December 17, 1934 in White Plains to John and Carmella (Spiconardi) Audia. She was a 1952 graduate of White Plains High School.  Connie met the love of her life, Patrick “Pasquale” Tartaglia at a summer night’s dance at the Purchase Community House. Despite missing curfew that evening, Pasquale was granted a second chance by his future in-laws and the couple kept dancing throughout their 60-year marriage, until his passing in 2018.  Whether bringing her class and efficiency to The County Trust as a young secretary or her warmth and patience to the classroom as a teaching assistant for over 30 years in the Harrison School District - Connie brought ALL of herself.  Without question, Connie’s greatest gift was her compassion. Unwavering, unconditional compassion for everyone that she met. In her classroom, on a bus, at the grocery store – her arms and heart were always open for anyone who needed it. That became the ultimate life lesson that she would teach, by example, to her children and their children.  Always a sharp dresser and impeccably manicured, Connie relished her regular visits to B. Altman’s, Macy’s and her standing Friday appointment at the beauty parlor. Her wardrobe and hair spray reserve were legendary - as were her Christmas Eve dinners, numerous trips to Disney World with her grandchildren, monthly “Girls’ Club” meetings and yes, her signature Perciatelli with ricotta cheese.  Connie will be deeply missed by her devoted children: Michael and his wife Cathy; Glenn and his wife Laura; her cherished grandchildren: Dana; Brandon; Joseph and his wife Amanda and Steven and his very best gal, Sydney Amster. She is also survived by her brother, John Audia (Patricia, deceased); her loving sister-in-law and best friend for more than 70 years, Rosita Briante (Rocco, deceased); and all of her nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.  Our family will be forever grateful to Janet Gettler, Senny Josephs, Lupita Cedeno, Bianca Martinez and all of the selfless caregivers and companions that Connie was blessed to have in her life and by her side.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, West Harrison, NY.  Reposing 5-9 PM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at the Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue at South Broadway, White Plains, NY 10601.  Interment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, NY.
