August Dammas

November 29, 1941 — July 10, 2021

Elmsford

August, aka, Augie, Augie doggie, pop-pop and dad passed away peacefully with family by his side.

Augie is survived by his daughter, Angela Diaz, his son-in-law, Joe Diaz, his grandson, Cody Diaz and his granddaughter, Madelyne Diaz.

Augie was most known for his big laugh and his ability to make everyone smile. He made everyone feel important. He took the time to sit, talk and listen.

He was the dad that took all the neighborhood kids fishing, sleigh riding, ice skating and so much more. He wasn’t just his grandkids pop-pop, he was known as pop-pop to so many. He was the fun pop-pop on the block that all kids loved and flocked to.

Augie had a love for old cars, fishing, animals, sunsets, boats, the water, painting, coin collecting, writing poetry, sports, going to his grandkids sports events, and just being home with his family.

We learned toward the end that he was the strongest man we have ever known. He fought a hard fight for many years and won so many times.

He will be deeply missed by his family and all who’s path he crossed but we are happy for him that he will finally rest in eternal peace with his mom, dad and sister and so many others who have passed before him.

Until we meet again. Love you dad/pop-pop.
