Antonietta (Molinaro) Scarano

Antonietta Scarano a long-time resident of White Plains, NY and Yonkers, NY passed away at her home on January 7, 2022.  Antonietta was born on December 29, 1927 in Trivento, Italy, married Nicola Scarano on April 19, 1950 and immigrated to the United States in 1956.  She worked as a seamstress for many years until she retired in 1980.   She continued to sew for pleasure and joyfully offered to make or alter anything her family or friends needed.  She loved to knit and crochet and many of us have scarves and blankets to keep us warm and remember her by.  She also loved to garden, cook and bake.  At one point or another we were all lucky recipients of her homemade pasta, pizza and traditional Italian baked goods.  She would not go anywhere without bringing a tray of her much loved pizzelles or sfringiune (fried dough).  She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Nazario L. (Lita) and Nicholas (Lisa) and her grandchildren Nicole (Gil) Roman and Luciano (fiancé Brittany) Genevieve (fiancé Jason) and Roma;  she was blessed recently with two great-grandchildren Luca and Lia.

She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church and more recently The Church of St. Bernard .  She enjoyed attending Sunday Mass and when she could no longer go to church, she would watch the Mass on TV at home every morning.    She also loved reading her bible and saying the rosary every day.
