Angela (Ficara) Malara

Angela Malara of Elmsford, N.Y., died on Thursday, April 7th at age 96. Born and raised in Reggio Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of Rocco and Teresa Ficara and sister of Concetto Ficara (dec'd) and Brigita Ficara Lagana (dec'd). Angela immigrated to the United States in 1949 and was a seamstress for more than sixty years. In 1952, she married Demetrio Malara. He died in 1995, and she carried him in her heart all her days. Her life was of one of devotion to family. Her greatest joy was having her family at her home for big family dinners where no dish was allowed to go untasted. She and her husband raised two children: Joseph (Virginia) Malara of Waccabuc NY and Grace (George) Micewicz of Montrose NY. She delighted in her four grandchildren: Jessica Cinquanta, Matthew Malara, Gregory (Rachel) Malara and Elizabeth (Michael) Micewicz and 4 great-grandchildren. Reposing at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home, in Elmsford, NY on Sunday, April 10 from 4PM - 8PM. Funeral services will be on Monday April 11th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Elmsford, immediately followed by a graveside farewell at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, White Plains, N.Y. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to a charity meaningful to you.
