Yolanda Vazquez

Yolanda Vazquez 83, of Thornwood N.Y. died on Nov.9, 2021.  She was born on May 19, 1938 to the late Genaro and Virginia Abrego in NYC. She was a retired office mgr. with the Department of Parole in New Rochelle, N.Y.   Yolanda’s family and friends knew her as a kind and gentle soul who filled their days with laughter and love. At 40 years old Yolanda returned to college and obtained a nursing degree graduating with honors.  Yolanda was a Mt. Pleasant senior citizen who first moved to Thornwood in 1959.  She was predeceased by her devoted husband John Raul Vazquez in 1996 and also predeceased by her brothers Roland, and Armando.  Yolanda is survived by her loving children John Vazquez of White Plains NY, Raymond Vazquez of White Plains NY, and Diane van Niekerk of Brewster NY, one sister, Melba Garcia of New Jersey.  Also survived by her six cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Jordan, Justin, Tyler, Camryn, and Bryce. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov 14, 2021 from 3-7 PM.  Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Monday, 10 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
