William (Bill) L. Maine, Jr.

William (Bill) L. Maine, Jr . entered into rest on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY. He was 65 years of age. Bill was the son of William L. Maine, Sr. of Charlotte, NC and Shirley P. Maine of High Point, NC; he was born on June 28 ^th , 1954 at the Annapolis Naval Base in Annapolis, MD where his father was stationed. Survivors include his step-mother Phyllis (Yount) Maine, his devoted sister, Nancy and husband Masha Bokhoor of Holly Springs, NC, and sisters Joan (Dennis) Evangelist of NC and June Tallent of FL along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Nels Maine of Holly Springs, NC. Bill was a long-time resident of Monroe, NY and previously moved from Albion, NY in 1965. He was a 1972 graduate from Monroe-Woodbury High School, Orange County Community College as well as Ramapo College of New Jersey where he majored in Business Management. Following graduation from high school, Bill entered into the United States Navy and was a corpsman stationed at the Quantico Marine Base in Quantico, VA. It gave him a tremendous about of pride and satisfaction being an active participant with the Boy Scouts of America for many years assisting other young men in achieving their Eagle Scout rank as he had also done. Bill was also a member of the American Legion Post #488 and enjoyed spending time swapping stories with several other former veterans. Bill was very proud of his military service and scouting and the values of both helped guide him through life. Bill rooted on the NY Giants and the NY Yankees no matter how well or how badly a season they had as he was a devout fan and never missed watching a game on TV. A private graveside memorial will be held at a later date at the family cemetery in Willet, NY. Arrangements are made by Hawthorne Funeral Home, Hawthorne, NY.
