William G. McCarthy

William G. McCarthy, 84 a long-time resident of Valhalla, NY, passed away on April 20, 2016. Born in Newark, NJ, to Eugene and Margaret McCarthy, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, afterwards attending American University, graduating in 1957. Mr. McCarthy was a former director of development at Columbia University and coached Kensico Little League for over 20 years. His great passions were baseball, dancing, and movies. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beatrice (nee Queally), and his nine children; Laura McGowan (Robert), Mark (Cecilia), Gregory (Jennifer), Carolyn Frawley (Thomas), Matthew (Karen), Christian (Tamra), Eugene, Kent (Tyler), and Lee (Erin). He also leaves behind 21 grandchildren. Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home, on Sunday 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, NY on Monday 10 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to The New York State Veterans' Home at Montrose
