William C. Cartwright

April 25, 1945 — December 10, 2021

White Plains

William C. Cartwright was born to the late Jesse Sr. and Harriette Cartwright (Holland) on April 25, 1945, in White Plains, NY.  He departed this earthly life at his home in Palm Coast, FL, on Friday, December 10, 2021.

William was raised in White Plains, NY, and educated in the White Plains School System. He would eventually go on to receive his Associate's Degree in Accounting at The College of New Rochelle, NY.

William loved working and giving back to the youth, which came to no surprise that his occupation would be a Youth Counselor. He worked at Children's Village in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and ended his career at Woodfield Cottage in Valhalla, NY. During his free time, he volunteered his services working with the youth at the NAACP White Plains/Greenburgh branch.

For those who knew William well...He was just "Billy," Brother Billy, Uncle Billy, Grandpa or just Dad. Billy was very passionate about his music. At times, you can find him in his room with his headset on his ears bopping to the music while being surrounded by stacks of albums or records all around him. If his head was not nodding to the music, you would catch him dancing by himself or grabbing your hand to join him. Billy enjoyed being the life of the party and chilling or sneaking a bottle of Pepsi!

Billy was a true sports fanatic who stood by his NY teams like the NY Giants and the NY Knicks. He looked forward to football season to taunt his sister Pat, who was a Dallas football fan on who was the best team.  And during basketball season, he avoided his daughter Janine's phone call because he knew she was going to tease him badly about the NY Knicks.

He loved hard, especially for his family. During Christmas time, he was excited to dress up as Santa Claus for all the children to enjoy. He also looked forward to attending his nieces, nephews or his kid's special events. Even though some knew not to cross "Big Bad Bill", we knew we could always count on him.

Lastly, William loved the Lord and on Sunday's you can find him at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Palm Coast FL.

William's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. His sense of humor and fun spirit will be greatly missed.

William leaves to cherish his memories daughter Janine (Calvin) Keve – White Plains NY and Grand-daughter Shaelise Cartwright – White Plains NY.
