Virginia Baulkwill

Virginia “Ginny” (Hodson) Baulkwill of Armonk, NY, lost her battle with melanoma on December 6, 2021, at nearly 95 years old. She was born to parents Alfred Valentine Hodson, Jr and Berenice Williams Hodson on February 22, 1927, in Mount Vernon, NY.

During the great depression, she lived with her family temporarily on a sailing vessel, the Iris, in Port Washington before moving to Armonk.  A graduate of Pleasantville High School, she went on to work as a secretary in New York City for several years before marrying her husband, William Rowland Baulkwill, Jr. in 1954. They settled in Armonk, where they raised their family.

As a young woman, she enjoyed square dancing and socializing with her sister-in-law and best friend, Madeline Baulkwill Musgrove. She loved swimming in the ocean and digging for clams on Cape Cod, where her parents had settled in retirement. A long-time resident of Armonk (80+ years), Ginny was interested in local issues and kept up-to-date by regularly watching the televised Town of North Castle Town Board and Planning Board meetings, frequently calling in with questions and comments to the Boards.

Dedicated to her family, she frequently assisted with school events, Girl Scouts and watching her three athletic children play sports. Her faith was an immense comfort to her in her later years and she kept up with lectures and services through telephone broadcasts.

She was a loving mother to her three children: William R. Baulkwill III (Melissa) of Herndon, VA, Charles A. Baulkwill (Donna) of Katonah, NY, and Valerie Baulkwill Desimone (Beau) of Hawthorne, NY.  She was a dedicated grandmother to her six grandchildren:  William B. Baulkwill (Kendall), Katherine Baulkwill Robertson (James), Abbey Baulkwill, Matthew Baulkwill, Nicole Desimone, and Michael Desimone; as well as two great grandchildren, Aria Baulkwill, and Cadence Baulkwill.

Ginny’s ashes will be interred on Sunday, May 15 with her late husband, William R. Baulkwill, Jr., at the family plot in Hillsdale, NY (Hillsdale Rural Cemetery).   A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Eulogy at 4:00 p.m.) at the Hawthorne Funeral Home,
