It is with both heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a long, well-lived life that we announce the passing of a remarkable woman, Theresa "Tessie" Guadagno, who departed peacefully on March 29, 2026, at the age of 103.
She will be remembered for her strong spirit, her wisdom, her quick wit and the quiet way she made everyone around her feel cared for. Born in 1922, she lived a life defined by strength, and unwavering dedication to others. She spent her career as a nurse, a calling she embraced with both skill and heart. Through decades of care, she touched countless lives-offering comfort, kindness, and steady hands in moments that mattered most.
Tessie lived her entire life in New York, growing up in Bedford and later in Richmond Hill, Queens, where she built a life centered on family, resilience, and love. In her retirement, she moved with her family to Hawthorne, New York
Above all, she was devoted to her family. She built a life with her husband, John, her two daughters, Linda Yuknevich (Peter), and Susan (Michael Maulucci), five grandchildren, Peter, Adam (Erin Vaccarelli), John, Tara (Jim Strauss) and Joseph (Amanda), and numerous great-grandchildren; all of whom carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and perseverance.
Her life spanned over a century of change, challenge, and growth-and through it all, she remained a constant source of strength and grace. She was an avid league bowler and true Yankee fan. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 1st at St. Joseph's Church, 95 Plum Brook Road, Somers, New York at 10 A.M. Burial will take place on Thursday, April 9th at 1:00 P.M. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Kew Gardens, New York
