Terry Leeds

February 22, 1955 — May 16, 2025

White Plains, NY

Terry Leeds of White Plains, N.Y. passed away at age 70 on May 16, 2025. She had battled various cancers for several years and finally succumbed to breathing and heart failure.

Terry was born February 22, 1955 on Long Island to parents Joseph and Ida Notis. After leaving New York, Terry worked as a respiratory therapist in both Tampa, Fl. and Alexandria, Va. It was while living in Virginia that Terry met her soon-to-be husband, Paul. Upon their marriage, Terry returned to New York, this time to Westchester County.

Terry completed her collegiate education by earning a B.A. at Mercy College while embarking on a new career as well. Beginning with a clerical position for Westchester County, she rapidly acquired remarkable computer skills. She proceeded to another position training Westchester County employees in the usage of computers. From there she moved upwards again to a lengthy career as a systems analyst for Westchester County Medical Center.

Terry's interests were many. She was a voracious reader of novels. She loved dogs- for over 17 years, her greatest joy was her time spent with Nicky, her beloved Bichon Frise. Terry was artistic and enjoyed participating in Scarsdale's adult programs. She spent many days with friends at a favorite bead store in White Plains. And how she loved to travel, whether it be annual trips to Arizona while married or later to far away destinations in Asia or Europe . Even after her breathing was compromised by lung cancer, she enjoyed a cruise with her close friend Beth.

Terry is survived by brother Hertzel Notis in Florida and ex-husband Paul Leeds in N.Y. It should be noted that her friend Beth Holbrook provided vital care and support during the last difficult years of Terry's life. Terry had many true friends; though she could put up a firm exterior at times, she genuinely cared about others and appreciated and returned friendships. She will be missed by many.

As Terry wished, her remains will be interred with those of her dog Nicky at Hartsdale Pet Cemetery.

There will be a gathering in honor of Terry on Tuesday, May 20 from 2-8 PM at the home of friends Sally and Bob Slotoroff at 879 A Stone View Court in Somers, NY (Heritage Hills). There will also be a luncheon in about a month at a place and time to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to an Animal Rescue or Cancer Society Organization that is close to your heart.
