Stephen J Cannas 64 passed away suddenly on January 26,2026 at the Huntington Hospital. He was born on April 25 1961, in the Bronx, NY to Frank and Barbara Cannas. He was the younger brother of sister Teresa Wittwer.
After his parents separated, he lived in Stony Point, NY, Hawaii, New Mexico and in St.Croix USVI, but finally came back to live permanently in Putnam Valley, NY where he went to vocational school for air conditioning and refrigeration.
He then succeeded at becoming self employed and known as "The Appliance Man" in his community where he had a loyal following.
Later on he met the love of his life and his longtime partner Lisa Nordstrom. Where he traveled extensively to Long Island just to be with her every week.
Steve was mechanically inclined, a talented musician and very artistic. He loved serenading his family, friends and loved ones with his guitar. He will be remembered as being a very loyal, committed and devoted to his family, friends and loved ones.
Steve will also be remembered as a man of great simplicity and humility with a broad sense of humor, placing value on things that cost very little, relationship, character, and honesty.
Visitations to celebrate Steve's life and legacy will be held at Ballard Durand Funeral Home, 21 W Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, NY from 11:00-12:00pm on Friday, January 30th. Family, friends and those whose lives Steve touched are all invited
