Ruth Elizabeth Collins

Mrs. Ruth Elizabeth Morrison Collins was born on September 23, 1942 in the County of Darlington, South Carolina. She was the 5th Daughter of the late Carl Morrison and Amy Greene Morrison. She departed this life on Thursday, March 9, 2023.

Ruth was preceded in internal rest by two sisters, Annie Louise Goodson and Margaret Eleanor Brown.

At an early age she accepted Christ and joined the Round O Missionary Baptist Church. Ruth attended Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, SC and graduated in 1961. She was employed by the City of New York in the Department of Social Services as a CPS worker and retired in 2012.

Those left to cherish her memories are: her sons, Vincent(Gloria)Morrison of Brooklyn, NY, Marcus(Lisa)Stokes of White Plains, NY; eight Grandchildren; seventeen Great-grandchildren; three god children; three sisters, Lillie Johnson of Darlington, SC, Naomi Morrison-Vereen of Conway, SC, Carlie(David Lee of Hampton, VA, and a special brother Harold Greene of Hampton VA, that was raised in the home. She had a variety of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Countless others were touched by her kindness and generosity.

Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to all she met. She enjoyed traveling to many places and visiting her home town of Darlington, SC to spend time with her mother, sisters, and other relatives.
