Robert Julian Radway

June 8, 1940 - May 20, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of Robert Julian Radway, who passed peacefully on May 20th, 2025, at White Plains Hospital.

Robert was born on June 8, 1940, in Lansing, Michigan to David and Sophie Radway.

A man of exceptional intellect and integrity, Robert led a distinguished career as a lawyer and financial consultant. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (1961) and an MBA (1962) from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and pursued postgraduate studies at the Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands (1966). He later received his Juris Doctor from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1969.

Robert was admitted to the bar in Massachusetts in 1970, the United States District Court of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit that same year, Ohio in 1973, and New York in 1978. His career spanned both corporate and legal sectors, holding positions at General Dynamics, IBM, and GTE, and later serving as counsel for New England Telephone and Arthur G. McKee & Company. He also worked as counsel and director of technical programs for the Council of the Americas in New York City and practiced privately as a partner at Radway & Dalto.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Robert was an avid sports enthusiast. In his youth, he was a competitive swimmer and maintained a lifelong passion for tennis, playing well into his later years. A devoted fan of the New York Yankees, he never missed a game. He also closely followed his alma mater's athletic teams, especially Michigan Wolverines football and basketball-with unwavering loyalty and pride.

Robert was actively involved in his community. He participated regularly in programs and events at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Stamford CT, the Princeton Club and the New York Athletic Club, where he cultivated lasting friendships and remained physically active throughout his life.

He found joy and peace in the quiet beauty of his home in Pound Ridge, where he spent cherished moments with his wife and their two beloved cats. His home reflected his love for nature, tranquility, and companionship.

Those who knew Robert will never forget his brilliant blue eyes, which seemed to reflect both wisdom and warmth. His dry, often understated sense of humor brought lightness to many conversations and left lasting smiles on the faces of friends and family. He was known to burst into song when something reminded him of a tune-a spontaneous joy that surprised and delighted those around him. These small moments, full of character and charm, are the ones we will treasure most.

He will be remembered for his sharp mind, quiet strength, and deep dedication to those he loved. He was a passionate thinker, a mentor to many, and a man who carried himself with dignity and warmth.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Diana; his nieces, Robyn and Erica; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rodger and Sandra; children Ted (Cynthia) and Rachel and his cherished grandson, Benjamin; brother Richard(Bonnie), his niece Elisa and nephews Jeff and Andy. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron Radway, and his parents, David and Sophie Radway.

His memory lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
