In Loving Memory of Robert Frank Germain Jr.
Robert Frank Germain Jr., affectionately known as "Bobby," was a beloved father, brother, uncle, former husband, and friend whose life touched many. He leaves behind his three beloved children, Chemere Warner, Robert Germain III, and Cartier Germain; his brother, Ralph Germain; and his former wife, Cleada Germain, all of whom remained by his side throughout his journey.
Robert was a proud and accomplished mechanical engineer who took tremendous pride in his profession. From Queens to Brooklyn and throughout all five boroughs of New York City, his engineering expertise left its mark on countless projects. His work also extended beyond New York, reaching into other states throughout his career. He was a hardworking man with many accomplishments and achievements, and he carried great pride in the life and career he built.
Outside of his work, Robert found happiness in the simple comforts of life. He loved spending time with his children, sharing dinner with them, watching television and movies, and relaxing at night in his favorite reclining chair. He enjoyed watching the news, spending time at the beach, and listening to music.
Among his favorite songs were "We Are the Champions" and "Every Breath You Take." The song "I Swear" also held a special place in his life, as it was part of his wedding day.
Robert had a great love for horses and, at one time, proudly owned several racehorses. He also loved his gold Mercedes, which he could often be seen driving around in. Those who knew him will also remember the little things he enjoyed: unsweetened iced tea, Diet Coke, everything bagels with cream cheese, cheeseburgers, and chicken tortilla soup.
More importantly, Robert will be remembered for his heart. He was generous, kind, compassionate, and deeply forgiving. He was never a man who knew how to stay angry for long. His love for his family ran deeper than words could fully express-sometimes deeper than what could be seen from the outside. It was a love he carried quietly and deeply within his heart.
During the final nine months of his life, Robert fought courageously through tremendous trials, setbacks, and victories. Through it all, he fought to come home and be with the children and family he loved so dearly. His perseverance throughout that journey demonstrated just how much strength he carried within him.
Most importantly to our family, Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Our faith gives us comfort in believing that he is now with Christ in paradise as he awaits the resurrection of the dead. The things that became difficult or impossible for him during his earthly life no longer burden him. We believe that in the presence of Christ, he is at peace-free from pain, suffering, sickness, and the limitations his body endured.
Robert believed that Jesus would heal him, and our family believes that his healing has now been made complete in eternity. Through the love, compassion, grace, and mercy of Jesus Christ, we trust that Robert has been forgiven and that suffering will never touch him again.
"But the one who endures to the end will be saved." - Matthew 24:13
And endure to the end Robert did.
In remembrance of my father, I dedicate the song "Reckless Love" to him, the same song I played at his burial. Its message reminds me of a love that pursues us-a love that, in my faith, pursued my father, drew him toward repentance, and remained with him until his final moments on this earth.
Robert Frank Germain Jr. was more than the hardships of his final months. He was a father. A brother. A husband. An engineer. A provider. A horse lover. A man who enjoyed his movies, his music, his favorite foods, his Mercedes, and quiet evenings in his chair. He was a man who loved his family deeply.
His earthly journey has ended, but his story, his accomplishments, the memories he created, and the love he gave will remain with those who knew and loved him.
Rest peacefully, Bobby, until we meet again.
Thank you for taking the time to read about and remember our father. May God bless each of you, and may the grace, love, and salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
