Richard L. Pappalardo

Richard L. Pappalardo, 68, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, September 12, 2021, surrounded by his family and his doggie. Rich was born July 5, 1953, to Salvatore and Margaret Pappalardo and was a longtime resident of Elmsford, NY. He was most recently living in Pennsylvania with his loving wife Karen Pappalardo whom he was married to for 47 beautiful years. Karen and Rich met in their teen years and quickly fell in love. They got married in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where he also went to school. He is also survived by his 4 wonderful children Matthew Pappalardo, Dana (Chris) Damoretcki, Rachel (Kyle) Nasman, and Nicholas (Julie) Pappalardo as well as 5 grandchildren, Jay, Theo, Ty, Linnea and Axel, whom he loved dearly, another grandson on the way, and his sisters Monica Rusko and Denise Pappalardo and his brother Gerard Pappalardo as well as his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. Rich always had an appetite for adventure and loved surfing, traveling and eating good food. He was also an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for his family, especially for Sunday night dinners. He appreciated all the beauty life had to offer. He was an excellent gardener and grew many vegetables and also had a special talent for caring for bonsai. He enjoyed sharing his gifts and talents with his grandsons. He rescued and cared for many animals over the years and was always a wealth of knowledge on all things about nature and history. Rich had a quick wit that often had the people around him laughing in tears. We will all miss him dearly and look back on fond memories of a life well lived. Visiting hours are 3:00 - 7:00 PM Thursday, September 16th, at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Hawthorne, NY.  Funeral mass is 10 AM on Friday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford.
