Richard Bothwell Hamilton, Jr.

Richard Bothwell Hamilton Jr., 71, of Harrison, NY, passed away on September 2, 2023. He was the beloved father of Eric Hamilton and Lisa Hamilton, a devoted brother to Deborah Hamilton, Kathryn Hamilton Fink, and Sarah Hamilton, and a loving uncle to Christopher Cairns, Brian Cairns, Andrew Fink, Margaret Fink, and Emily Morley.

Richard, or “Richie” as he was lovingly called by his sisters, was born in New York, NY, and was the second child to his mother, Doris Marty Hamilton, and father, Richard Bothwell Hamilton, MD. He was raised in Tinton Falls, NJ, and graduated from Princeton University in 1973 where he majored in economics.

Richard was a talented and successful media executive in New York City for many years. He was known for his quiet brilliance, his low-key, approachable leadership style, and his unique ability to build trusting, lasting relationships with clients and employees alike. He was a deeply respected leader and mentor in his field. In his later years, he owned and managed several rental properties in Westchester County and was a devoted member of the Harrison community and the local twelve-step community.

Richard’s children will always remember his quiet, caring nature, his love of Alfred Hitchcock movies and other classics, the New York Yankees, New York City, his steadfast commitment to self-improvement, and the deep gratitude he felt for his family and support system.

A service in loving memory of Richard will be held at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home (2 Maple Ave. White Plains, NY 10601) on Sunday, October 8th at 10am.

Charitable contributions in Richard’s memory can be made to Burke Rehabilitation Hospital or the Westchester Behavioral Health Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
