Ralph G Twining

November 23, 1921 — March 6, 2014

Born on November 23, 1921 Departed on March 6, 2014

The youngest of four, two brothers and an older sister, born to Edward and Florence Twining, all of whom preceded him in death.

Ralph suffered two strokes, ten years apart and was never able to regain his desire to enjoy fitness and health or his fierce competitiveness as a tennis player from his early childhood in Cleveland, Ohio. He won many trophies and enjoyed the same rewards during bank matches at Banker’s Trust in New York, where he was an Assistant Vice President until he retired in 1986.

He was educated though the school system in Lakewood, Ohio. Ralph went into the Army after high school where he achieved the rank of second lieutenant as an airplane pilot. He then went on and attended the Case Institute of Technology (now Case Western Reserve), where he earned athletic medals and a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering. In New York he went on to attended Columbia University where he earned a Master’s degree in Business.

He could always be seen in and around Morningside Gardens, where he applied for residency and was accepted and lived since November 28, 1978 with his wife. He biked, walked, or jogged around Central Park and played tennis for years with others that he met in the park.

Ralph is survived by the love of his life, his devoted wife, Celestein L. Hill-Twining, who he affectionately called “Sweetie” for over 42 years, a sister-in-law Agnes Twining of Cleveland, OH, nieces Jane A. Moores (John) of Arkansas, Evelyn Weber of Cleveland, OH, Carol Twining of Rocky River, OH, Christine Vadine (Anthony) of Ohio, and many Grand and Great Grand Nieces and Nephews, In-laws and friends.
