Peter John Gennuso

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter John Gennuso on August 31, 2023. Peter passed away after a courageous and valiant battle with multiple myeloma. Peter was born in the Bronx, NY 11/3/1941, to Margarite Cesario and S. Phillip Gennuso. Peter graduated from Stepanic High School and Iona College in 1963. He met his beloved wife, Grace Yacovelli, in 1959 and they were married in 1963. Peter was an extraordinarily intelligent man who could talk to anyone about anything. Before retiring, he worked for Verizon. After retiring Peter volunteered as a Tax Aide and Medicare advisor. He also devoted time to the community in many other diverse ways. He enjoyed fishing, photography, and spending time in Florida and the outdoors.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Grace. His three children, Julianne Brenza (Karl), Margaret Grossi (Michael), Peter Gennuso (Adele) and seven grandchildren and two step grandchildren (Stephanie Grossi and Nicole Grossi). "Poppy's Posse": Kyle Brenza, Daniel Goetze, Nicholas Goetze, Anthony Gennuso and Marco Gennuso and "Poppy's Princesses": Lexi Brenza and Annabelle Brenza. He is survived by his sister, Joan Djakov Tieman (Phil) and brothers, Phillip Gennuso and John Gennuso.

A wake will be held on Tuesday, September 5th, from 3-6pm at Ballard Durand Funeral Home in Hawthorne, NY. There will be a memorial mass on Wednesday, September 6th at 11:00am at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla, NY.
