Paul D Montagna

Beloved husband, father, uncle and brother, Paul Montagna, 86 years old of Rye Brook, NY passed away peacefully in his home after a long battle with cancer.

Paul was born in Springfield, MA on August 14, 1936 to Michael Montagna and Jane (Doviak) Montagna. He resided in Agawam, MA until 1958. He received a B.S. from the American International College in 1958, an M.B.A. from Syracuse University in 1960 and a Ph.D. in Sociology from New York University in 1967. During that time he also served in the United States Coast Guard. He married his wife Doris on June 14, 1962 and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past June.

Paul was a professor of Sociology at Brooklyn College from 1966 - 2000 and the CUNY Graduate Center from 1977 - 2000. He was the Director of the Ford Colloquium Honors Program at Brooklyn College from 19903-2000 and the Chair of the Department of Sociology from 1975-1977.

Paul is predeceased by his beloved son Lee and by his parents Michael and Jane. He is survived by his wife Doris, his daughter Eve and his brother Carl as well as his in laws Eileen and Bob Metkiff, and Sandy Montagna, his niece Erica Metkiff Tapper and nephews Brian Metkiff and Jeff Montagna.

Paul was an incredible and kind human being who loved his family and loved nature. He will be greatly missed.
