Patrick J. Flannery

April 11, 1941 — November 27, 2022

Valhalla

Patrick Joseph Flannery of Valhalla, N.Y. passed away on November 27th, 2022 at the age of 81. Born on April 11th, 1941 in Yonkers, to Irish immigrants Patrick Joseph Flannery Sr. and Mary Daly, he was raised in Tuckahoe alongside siblings Mary Shepard and Thomas Flannery.

Pat graduated from Archbishop Stepinac High School in 1960, and Fordham University in 1964 with his B.S in Accounting. In 1960, Pat joined the Marine Corp and proudly served in the Marine Corp Reserve for 6 years.

On February 27th, 1965, Pat married the love of his life, Mary K. Kehoe. They were joyfully married for 58 years. Pat is survived by three children; Kathleen Trudo (Thomas), James Flannery (Jennifer) and Suzanne Grimm (David) who were raised in Hawthorne and Valhalla. Pat was thrilled to be Poppy to his three perfect grandchildren Gabriella Flannery, Nicholas Flannery and Joseph Trudo.

After graduating from Fordham University, Pat worked as a Bank Examiner for the New York State Banking Department and Arthur Anderson as a Computer System Analyst. Pat then enjoyed a lengthy career with Reader's Digest as a Financial Auditor, frequently traveling internationally. Finally, he worked at New York Power Authority before retiring in 2012. In retirement, Pat enjoyed wearing his favorite frayed jeans for regular trips to Bergers Hardware and the deli.

Pat was a devoted and active parishioner at Holy Rosary Church for 51 years. Pat was a founding member of the Bazaar Committee and the Parish Christmas Project which provided Christmas gifts to underprivileged families in the South Bronx. Pat also served on the parish council, as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Patrick was loved by all. His booming laugh, wry sense of humor and ready smile made him a friend to everyone. He always found a way to find the funny side of things even when the laugh was on him. An avid New York sports fan, you always knew how the game was going due to his passionate commentary and extensive repartie. Pat’s love of homemade Irish Soda Bread was well known. He would wait in anticipation for it to come out of the oven with butter ready. No Christmas was complete without Patrick’s famous homemade eggnog that he shared with friends and family.

In a word, Pat was good… a good husband, a good father, a good friend and a good man!

Reposing, Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday, Dec.2,2022 from 4-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Saturday, 10 AM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a Charity of Your Choice, would be appreciated.
