Patricia Ann Cleary, 95, of White Plains, New York, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026.
Patricia was born on May 21, 1931, in New London, Connecticut, to Mary Jane (Nixon) Cleary and Joseph Cleary.Raised in Elmsford, New York, Pat and her family lived on the Spano family farm. Her father was the proprietor of a local gas station, and her mother was a devoted homemaker. Pat graduated from Ardsley High School in 1949. Shortly after graduation, she began a long career working for Reader's Digest in Chappaqua, New York.
Pat was a resilient, funny, and courageous single mother to her two children, Heidi (Frank) Coppola and Eric Bratberg (Marisa). She was a proud and beloved grandmother to six grandchildren: Ashley, Jessica, Eric, Nick, Colleen, and Connor. She was equally honored to be a great-grandmother to Sean, Charlotte, Ella, and Harper, and was eagerly awaiting a new arrival coming soon. Pat cherished her family above all else and treasured attending every milestone in her grandchildren's lives-from school events and baseball games to figure skating competitions and shows. One of the highlight moments of her life was meeting Mariano Rivera at an Iona Prep dinner honoring her daughter.
Pat always looked forward to spending Thanksgiving and Christmas at her daughter's home. Gathering for the holidays with extended family-Mario, Mary, and Nicholas-always brought a beaming smile to Pat's face, and she especially loved playing games of Left-Right-Center with everyone.
When her children reached school age, Pat re-entered the workforce as a school crossing guard. Recognizing her outstanding dedication to her job and the community, the Chief of Police invited her to train as the first female 911 dispatcher for the Town of Mount Pleasant, a position she held for many years. Her career journey then led her to become the first female Park Ranger with the Westchester County Police. Pat later served as a security officer at Neiman Marcus in White Plains, where she thoroughly enjoyed "catching the bad guys." She worked until the age of 78, retiring as a telephone operator for Neiman Marcus, where many callers likely had the pleasure of speaking with her.
Pat spent the last 40 years living in White Plains, including the last seven years residing on Barker Avenue, where she made many dear friends. She brought joy wherever she went-dancing in the lobby, joking around, loving her cozy apartment, and always talking about her beloved New York Yankees.
Everyone who knew Pat knew of her unwavering devotion to the Yankees and her playful love for her "boyfriend," Derek Jeter. She also loved relaxing to her two favorite television shows, The Golden Girls and Judge Judy.
Pat's zest for life, her 100% love for the USA, her sharp common sense in today's madness, and her absolute humor when dealing with modern technology . Pat always lit up every room she walked into.
Pat was predeceased by her sister, Judi Murphy (John), and her brother, Joseph H. Cleary. She is survived by her loving sister, Barbara Cudney, and her cherished nieces and nephew: Bonnie Magilochetti, Robbie Cudney, and Jane Kook.
