Nicola Buonounto, age 91 of White Plains, New York passed away December 12, 2025.
Nicola was born on April 21, 1934 in Naples, Italy to Pietro and Concetta Buonocunto and grew up in Italy where he served in the Italian Navy from 1954 through 1956.
Nicola immigrated to the United States, became a citizen, and began his United States Army career in 1959, serving three years active duty overseas in Germany and an additional three years in the United States Army Reserve, receiving an Honorable Discharge in May 1965.
Nicola married Lorraine Buonocunto (nee Mangiacapra) in June 1965 and lived in White Plains, New York, where they raised two daughters, Laura and Nicole. Nicola was hardworking with a strong work ethic, achieved the status of Master Electrician and owned his own business for more than fifty years until his retirement.
Nicola is survived by his daughters Laura and Nicole, son in-law Louis, grandchildren Victoria, Alexandra, Brianna, Louis and a large extended family of nieces and nephews and their children, all living in Italy. Nicola is predeceased by his wife Lorraine, his parents and siblings Angelina, Michele, Ciro and Mario.
Nicola was a loving husband, father and grandfather, a devoted Christian and longtime member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in White Plains, New York.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Parkinson’s Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association.
