Muriel A. Gebhart

Muriel A. Gebhart 93, a long time resident of Hawthorne, N.Y. passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on Jan.19, 2016 at the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, N.Y. She was born on June 12, 1922 to the late Augusta and William Longernecker in N.Y., N.Y. where she was raised and educated. She was employed by the Equitable Insurance Co. in Manhattan for over 45 years until retirement in 1965. In her part time she enjoyed traveling across the United States and to several Caribbean Islands. She was also an avid reader of various books, and enjoyed music and was a faithful member of the Holy Rosary Parish in Hawthorne, N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Thomas Gebhart in 2006, her brothers, Raymond and Frederick and sisters, Lillian and Eleanor and grandson, Michael. Muriel is survived by her daughter, Geraldine of Hawthorne and Cold Spring, N.Y. her son, Robert of Putnam Valley, N.Y. and daughter, Patricia and her late husband, Hugh of Holly Hill, Fla., several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and her beloved Veline, Henrietta. Reposing Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Mass, Holy Rosary Church, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Friday, 10 AM. Interment, Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Diabetes Association or Guiding Eyes would be appreciated.
