Mrs. Gurcan A. Demirag

Gurcan A. Demirag passed away peacefully on February 2, 2019 at White Plains Hospital in Westchester County New York, after a long struggle with COPD. Gucci was born on June 27, 1936 in Moda - Istanbul Turkey. Gucci married her girlhood sweetheart, Husnu Mehmet Demirag, also from Istanbul Turkey. Gucci and Husnu emigrated from Turkey to the United States in 1960, where Husnu practiced radiological medicine up until his untimely death in 1978. They made their home in the suburbs of New York City. Although widowed at a young age, Gucci continued to raise her two teenaged children and send them both to college. Gucci is survived by her two children, Murad Demirag (aka Alex Demir) and Ayse Demirag-Ruvolo, along with their respective spouses Jennifer Perich and Tony Ruvolo.
Gucci worked as a salesperson at various department stores in Westchester County, such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bonwitt Teller and Lord & Taylor. It was during her time as a salesperson that Gucci earned her nickname, due to her style, impeccable appearance and charming personality.
Gucci will be lovingly remembered by family and friends for her sense of humor, hospitality, love of children, nature and animals.
Visitation will be on April 25, 2019 from 4 PM - 8 PM at Ballad Durand Funeral Home, 2 Maple Avenue, White Plains, New York.
