Mildred M. Kerrigan

Mildred M. Kerrigan 98, formerly of NYC, Bronx and Carmel, N.Y. the daughter of John and Margaret (Bentz) Callahan was born on November 30, 1922 in Manhattan, NY. She left this earth on November 12, 2021 in The Villages, FL.

On April 26, 1947 she married William Kerrigan in St. Pius Church in Bronx, NY.  To this union three children were born William, Kathleen and Kevin.

Mildred’s most treasured possession in life was her family.  She was devoted to her husband William whom she adored and spent her time focused on her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  She was a staple at all of their extracurricular activities and events and never missed a birthday or a holiday.  Mildred was a high roller she loved bingo, horse racing, and playing cards with her “lady friends” and her family. She loved to gamble and she loved to win.  She loved walking her dog Buddy and she was a diehard Jets fan.   Mildred was a devoted Catholic and was the member of serval parishes in both New York and Florida throughout her lifetime.  She impacted so many lives in so many positive ways.

Left to cherish her memory are her children William (Bonnie) Kerrigan, Kathleen (Ronald) Rufrano and Kevin Kerrigan.   Her grandchildren Tammy (Matthew) Burgus, Tiffany (Clay) McDonald and William (Anna) Kerrigan.  Her great-grandchildren Bryelle Burgus, Ashley McDonald, Addison McDonald,William Kerrigan, Jameson Kerrigan and Brody Kerrigan.  Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mildred is preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Callahan, her husband William Kerrigan, her sisters Rose Ahr, Margaret Callahan and her brothers Thomas Callahan, Howard Callahan and Alfred Callahan.

Private services are being held for immediate family at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Hawthorne, NY and Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. Interment follows.

In lieu of flowers the family asks  that a donation be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Mildred’s name.
