Michel Andre "Andy" Jean-Jacques
1938 - 2026
Michel Andre Jean-Jacques died peacefully in his sleep on March 17, 2026, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
He was the devoted husband of Gyselle, who sadly passed away in March 2020. Michel was an invested father to his sons David and Danny and a proud grandfather to Rosalie. He never had a chance to meet his granddaughter Elodie but certainly would have adored her just the same.
Michel gave nearly two decades of dedicated service to St. Luke's Hospital in New York City - now Mount Sinai - where he served as Head Laboratory Technician. He proudly told stories of his time there and international adventures with lifesaving organs.
Beyond his professional life, Michel was a man of eclectic interests. He enjoyed war documentaries and staying up to date on the news. He fancied himself an amateur botanist who tended his plants and a maestro who lost himself in conducting an imaginary orchestra.
For a man who loudly stated that he only had half a stomach, he sure loved dessert, saving room, no matter what. And then there were his stories. Michel could hold a room captivate - literally and figuratively - with a tale that wandered through memory and imagination, building toward an ending that never quite arrived.
Michel leaves behind not just a family, but a legacy of curiosity and storytelling. He will be remembered in every story that trails off - or every thought that starts with "What is this?"
