Michael A. Robinson Sr.

Michael Anthony Robinson, Sr was born in Whiteville, North Carolina November 5, 1956 to the late Louise Robinson Strickland and Solomon Pete Robinson. Growing up, Michael was affectionately known by friends and family as Mickey. Sports were a big part of his childhood. Mickey was an avid runner, tennis and basketball player. In high school, he was a member of the Whiteville High School varsity basketball team. Mickey graduated from Whiteville High School in 1975.

After graduating high school, Michael made family history enrolling at North Carolina Central

University in Durham. He graduated in 1979 with honors from NCCU with a BS Degree in

Political Science.  He then attended Law School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Once again Michael carried the family torch, graduating Summa Cum Laude from UNC Chapel Hill in 1982.

It was at NCCU in 1977 that Michael met the love of his life, Tanya Prunty. It was a love to last an eternity! Michael and Tanya married in 1984 and began their life together; first in The Bronx and later in Elmsford, New York. The marriage was blessed with a beautiful son, Michael Anthony Robinson II on October 13, 1990.

Michael, Tanya and Michael II have enjoyed a wonderful life. You could always count on hearing about fantastic Robinson family trips and activities. Michael enjoyed a flourishing career in the reinsurance Industry, retiring in 2017. In retirement Michael found great joy and a sense of accomplishment when he volunteered to teach at risk youth and lead exercise classes for senior citizens.

Michael leaves to cherish him, his wife, Tanya Robinson and son, Michael Anthony Robinson II.

He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Eugene Robinson (Whiteville, NC); brother-in-law

Ronald Prunty (Bronx, NY); aunt Cassie Jenkins (Abraham) (Accokeek, MD); uncle Charles

Herbert Burroughs (Whiteville, NC); cousins Cetrena Spaulding (Clarkton, NC), Nicole Spaulding (Clarkton, NC), Fay Bowers (Charlotte, NC) and Jasmine Williams (Justin) (Fairfax, VA) and many dear friends.

The treasured memories of Michael will forever fill the hearts of family and friends. Michael Anthony Robinson, Sr. leaves a beautiful legacy and a lasting impact. He will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
