Meredith Jane Quinn

June 9, 1928 — October 25, 2015

Meredith Jane Quinn, 87, wife of the late Edward F. Quinn, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Oct. 25 at her Jupiter, Fla. residence while briefly under hospice care after fighting lymphoma since 2012. Born in Ashland, Ky., she was the only child of Walter G. and Norma R. (Holzhauser) Wolf.
Raised in Washington, D.C., she volunteered there as a nurse's aid in the Junior Army-Navy Guild Organization at Doctors Hospital during World War II. She continued her volunteer work at the then-St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, N.Y. upon moving to Hartsdale, N.Y. in 1945. In 1950 Meredith graduated from Marymount College in Tarrytown, N.Y. where a plaque in the retirement center for the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary bares her parents' names recognizing her donations to Marymount. She moved to Tuckahoe, N.Y. in 1951 when she married "Eddie," her husband of 54 years until he passed away in 2005. They moved to Eastchester, N.Y. where they raised their son, and she took up hooking rugs as a hobby. Upon Ed's retirement from the New York Daily News, they left New York and split their time between Chatham, Mass. and Jupiter, Fla. Meredith was an active member of Chatham's Counsel on Aging, an avid bridge player and an aficionado of '50's big-band music. She faithfully attended St. Jude Catholic Church in Tequesta, Fla. -- where she was a member of the Association of the Sacred Hearts, and Holy Redeemer Church in Chatham. Meredith is survived by her son, Daniel, and his wife Christine of Avon, Conn., as well as nieces Lisa (O'Connor) Carothers and her husband Jay of Pinehurst, N.C., and Kyle (O'Connor) Duffy and her husband Tom of Sugarland, Tex., and nephew Tom O'Connor and his wife Joan-Marie of New Rochelle, N.Y. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday 1PM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y. where the burial will follow.
