Mary Patricia Borawski (McHugh) 91, of Valhalla, N.Y.  known to most of her friends and family as “Pat”, passed away on December 8 th, 2021 Born on 3/17/1930 to Irish parents Anna Callanan and Daniel McHugh who had immigrated to the U.S, she grew up in Brooklyn, NY where she met Alfred Borawski on VJ Day in 1945. They were married on 11/26/1949 and were together for 65 years until his passing in 2015. They moved to Westchester in 1954, first living in North White Plains and then in Valhalla. Pat held a variety of jobs including secretary at General Foods Corporation, office manager and agent at an insurance company, and financial aid officer at Pace University where she helped establish the Silas Pitts scholarship for minority students. She also earned her bachelor’s degree there at age 50. She then moved on to work for AdvancePCS where she was named workaholic of the year in 1994, and in 2007 she earned a master’s degree from Long Island University. In her final employment years Pat worked at Dr. Ravikumar’s office as the Joint Commission Compliance Officer – finally retiring at age 89. She is survived by her only child, Patricia Borawski Howie (Bethesda MD), grandsons Kenneth Howie (Brick NJ) and Paul Howie (San Diego CA), great granddaughters Veronica and Daniela Howie, and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by family, friends and neighbors. Visiting at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec.18, 2021 from 9 AM-10:30 AM. Funeral Mass, Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y. on Saturday, 11 AM. Interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Name of Jesus Church, Valhalla, N.Y. 2 Broadway, Valhalla, N.Y. 10595 (checks can be made out to Rosary Altar Society) would be appreciated.
