Maryann Theresa Diaz

Maryann Theresa Diaz passed away on July 21, 2026, in the Bronx, New York, at the age of 76, after a brief illness. She was born on June 5, 1950, in Manhattan, New York, grew up in the Bronx, New York, and resided in Thornwood, New York.

She was the daughter of the late Emmanuel Ferrandina and Rose Salvatorelli.

Maryann graduated from Aquinas High School in the Bronx in 1968. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from St. John's University in 1971, and later completed her Master's degree.

Maryann dedicated her career to public service as an educator, teaching mathematics at John Philip Sousa Middle School (MS 142) in the Bronx. She was deeply devoted to her students and to her loved ones, giving generously of her time to family and friends alike.

Maryann is survived by her husband, Blas Diaz; her sons, Joseph and William; and her granddaughter, Nadia.
