Mary C. Marcel

Mary C.  Marcel, of Peekskill, N.Y. Passed away Wednesday, March 25th after a year long health struggle .Born 8/19/1930 Yonkers, to James and Mary Campion. Mary spent her entire youth and early married years in Yonkers. Graduated from HS of Commerce after which she raised a family in White Plains. Mary is survived by 3 children: Patrice Miano (Tom) of Croton, Renee Fanelli (Michael) of Aberdeen, Maryland and John (Nina) of Briarcliff Manor. Mary was predeceased by her daughter Suzzanne Tompkins (Bill) of Mystic, Ct in 2018. Also predeceased by her former husband Jack in 1985. Her sister Catherine Dillon and a brother, James Campion also predecease her. She leaves behind 6 Grandchildren: John Marcel, MD (Tara) of Charlotte, NC, Daniel Marcel (Caitlin) of Stamford, CT, Brian Tompkins of New Hampshire, Jack Tompkins of Charlotte, NC, Michael Fanelli (Caitlin), Yardley, PA, Jaclyn Dennis (Jordan). Aberdeen
, Maryland. Step Grandchildren Chris Miano (Stephanie)NYC and Jessi Miano, New Orleans. 5 Great Grandchildren, Elise and Margot Marcel, Charlotte, NC Michael, Grace, and Gabriel Fanelli, Yardley PA.Several nieces and nephews.After raising her family, Mary was employed for many years at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow and remained active through her retirement. She especially  enjoyed helping her neighbors and friends while serving as President of her Coop Board. Mary was a principled person that could easily see her own faults and even more easily forgive and move on from the natural faults of others. It was a compass direction  her family gained from. Mary kept her wit, mind and sense of humor to the very end.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions there can be no visitation or open funeral mass. There will be a Remembrance and Funeral gathering at a future date to be announced. The family wishes all to be safe. Entombment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N.Y.
