It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martin A. Spar, aged 89, on February 19, 2026. Born on April 24, 1936, in The Bronx, New York, NY. Martin enjoyed a distinguished career in the financial services industry, notably as a data processing and technology executive on Wall Street.
Martin was predeceased by his beloved parents, Harry and Anna Spar. He was a devoted father to his children, Steven (Kathleen), Jeffrey (Dr. Wendy Jeshion) and Lori (Brett Carnot). He was deeply connected to his brother Teddy Spar. He cherished his role as a grandfather to four grandchildren - Isabella, Zoe, Alexa and Eden, whose lives he enriched with love and stories. After the loss of his dear wife, Lisa Spar (Glassberg) in 2005, Martin found companionship in the love of Barbara Dymond, with whom he shared almost two decades of happiness. A service to honor Martin's life will be held at Congregation Kol Ami on Sunday, February 22, 2026, followed by burial at New Montefiore Cemetery. Martin's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
Consider donations in Marty's honor to ProjectBell, a non profit supporting cancer and transplant patients founded and operated by his Grandchildren. For more information go to www.projectbell.org
