Marshall Jan Nachbar
November 2, 2026 ' Age 80
Marshall Jan Nachbar, 80, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, generosity, and countless people whose lives were made better by knowing him.
Born and raised in the Bronx, Marshall eventually settled in Ardsley, New York, where he raised his family and built a life filled with the people and things he loved most. He spent his professional career as an attorney in Manhattan's Financial District, but his greatest legacy was never defined by his career. It was defined by his enormous heart, his generosity, and the friendships he made along the way.
Marshall was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. Generous to a fault, he was deeply loved by family, friends, neighbors, and just about everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never took life too seriously. Whether sharing a laugh, lending a helping hand, or making sure the neighborhood children went home with the biggest bags of Halloween candy, Marshall always found ways to make people feel special.
He was also a man who loved an adventure and never shied away from a challenge. An avid runner, Marshall completed an impressive 99 races, including 10 New York City Marathons. He loved history and sports, and remained a devoted baseball fan, with Willie Mays holding a special place as his all-time favorite player. He also cherished time spent with his beloved dog, Humphrey, especially their trips to the dog park.
Above all, Marshall treasured his family. He was a proud father and grandfather who leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that will live on through the people closest to him.
Marshall was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail Nachbar. He is survived by his son, Ira, and daughter-in-law, Jessica; his daughter, Dana, and son-in-law, Matteo; his brother, Roger; and his three cherished grandchildren, Liam (15), Dylan (11), and Tyler (7).
Marshall's warm spirit and sense of humor never left him. He will be remembered not only for the miles he ran, but for the countless lives he touched along the way. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Private services will be held for family only.
