Maria Underwood

Maria Underwood, 68, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on May 2, 1955, in Bronx, NY, to Joseph and Tina Underwood.

Maria's journey was marked by a dedication to excellence and a passion for life. She graduated from St. Barnabas High School and SUNY Purchase College, embarking on a fulfilling career that spanned several esteemed companies including IBM, ITT Industries, and Hitachi America, where she made lasting contributions and earned the respect of colleagues and peers.

Beyond her professional achievements, Maria embraced an active lifestyle that mirrored her vibrant spirit. Skiing, exploring new destinations worldwide, and cherishing moments with her family and close friends were among her greatest joys.

Maria leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her daughter, Grace; beloved sister, Jo-Ann; caring brothers, William, and George (Loretta); nieces and nephews, Tina (Jill), Tara (Chris), Jessica (Brian), Salvatore, Joseph (Nicole), and Joanna (Phil); as well as her great nieces and nephews, Aiden, Scarlet, Conor, Salvatore, Santino, and Joseph Mack.

Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Tina Underwood, and her beloved sister-in-law, Anne.

A celebration of Maria's life will be held on Sunday, April 28th, 11 am-3 pm at Ballard-Durand Funeral Home in White Plains, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Network reflecting Maria's compassionate and generous spirit.

Maria's legacy of love, resilience, and joy will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
