Margaret Landon Koplinka passed away on April 3, 2019. Peg, as she was known to her friends and family, was born in on January 14, 1930, and raised in White Plains, New York. She met her husband George when they were freshmen in high school. Peg received her BA in Home Economics from New York University and her MA from Teachers College, Columbia University. She and George married in 1953 and spent their life together in White Plains until moving to Vermont in 2017. Peg taught school briefly before her marriage, but left the classroom to stay home and help George raise five children. After the birth of her last child in 1968, Peg returned to the classroom and was a Home Economics and Child Development teacher at Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, New York until her retirement in 1987.
Peg cultivated creativity, playfulness and resourcefulness in her home. She had a keen eye for design and balance in textiles and she loved to have a child or grandchild on her lap, helping them guide a scrap of cloth under the sewing machine needle. Her zest for life was boundless and her love for her family was endless.
She is survived by her husband George, her children and their spouses: Charlotte (Robert), Catherine (Chal), Carrie (Mike), Carolyn (Grant), Dan (Nupur); grandchildren and their spouses: Jessica, Chelsea (Matt), Meg (Chris), John (Ellie), Anne (Max), Danielle (Gabo), Irene, Sam, Ford, Matt, Justin and Connor; great-grandchildren Grant, Dare, Simon, Ben, River, Ophelia and Graciela. Her parents, Charlotte Firth and Floyd Landon, and her brother, James Landon, predeceased her.
